Onion Days Carnival

We (me, my mom, and Tiffany) we very excited for Onion Days this year because we would get to take Little Blaine on the carnival rides for his very first time. We skipped the parade and started the day with Lunch at my Aunt Doni's house. Then we headed to the carnival. When we got Blaine in the stroller and started pushing him towards all the fun, as soon as he saw all the people and the rides and heard the screaming he got really excited and started laughing and clapping his hands. It was the cutest thing.

We started with a ride on the merry-go-round. He was super excited and saying "horsey, horsey" and jumped up and down in Blaine's arms as they got on the ride. He found Grandma and Tiffany and pointed at them from his chosen horse.
It was super exciting. He was loving it.....He kept looking all around waiting for it to go......and then it started moving. It was a disaster after that. It was the fastest merry-go-round I had seen and the movement up and down and round and round scared the life right out of Blaine.

He started screaming and crying and bailed into his Daddy's arms. If you look close at the picture below Blaine is holding on to Daddy for dear life!! Daddy was loving it because Blaine never ever hugs us like that. But it was still sad that he was so scared.

Next we decided to try something a little more low key. No up and down. Still round and round but much slower. Less people. And this one was trucks!! Couldn't go wrong here. We loaded him in and he was a bit apprehensive after just having rode the evil horsey but he did awesome.

When it came time to get off we ended up walking right back on because we basically had to peel him out of the first truck while he kicked and screamed because he didn't want it to end. Luckily there wasn't a line and we got right back on.

After it was over, we peeled him away from the car again. Same story---crying and bawling because he didn't want to get off. But we took him to the train and he was excited for this one.

We got to the train right as it started with other kids in it so we had to wait for our turn and that was very difficult to ask a 1 yr old to wait to ride for 5 minutes. Almost torture really. But our turn came and he was in heaven.

I love Blaine's thumbs up in this picture. So funny. This ride was much more suitable for him. Slow. No up and down. Awesome. We didn't even try to get him out of this one when it was over because he started crying just because it stopped so we just handed the guy our last tickets and he let him stay in his seat.

Overall the day was well worth the $12 in tickets that we bought. I wish that he would have had someone he knew to ride with him but hey in a couple of years he'll be showing Ella the ropes.
